Подобные данные иногда сохраняются в векторном виде, причём для представления таких объектов, как города, посёлки, здания и аэропорты, используются точки; шоссе, реки и границы областей (штатов) обозначаются линиями, а участки с общими атрибутами (леса, страны) выглядят как многоугольники или фигуры неправильной формы. Возможен и вариант сохранения растровых данных - с отображением на карте различных количественных показателей (численность населения, количество выпадающих осадков и т. п.), кодированных характеристик (например, по использованию площадей) или изображения земной поверхности (аэрофотография или вид со спутника - спутниковая спектрограмма).Traditional geodata is the digital map data created and used in GIS. — Традиционные географические данные - это цифровые географические карты, создаваемые и используемые в ГИС.
